I am Rebecca Zoet, owner and creative spirit behind

This New Old House, and I am delighted to meet you!  I am just a normal gal, with a normal family, with a normal budget that wants my home, parties, and holidays to look like the pages of a magazine {+ be liveable, of course!}  You can have both and I will help you!   I LOVE design and everything home and have an extraordinary gift for seeing the vision of a project and pulling it together…and I want to share this talent with you and your home.  My niche is mixing the old with the new to tell your home’s story – an eclectic style that is uniquely YOU!

I live with my family in the heart of the mid-west in the
countryside outside of Des Moines, Iowa.

My husband and I bought a 1905 historic
home after we were married

and worked on that home like crazy for 17 years until we had it exactly how we wanted it.  That is where my love for home projects and passion for unique historic charm was born.  Along the way in those 17 years we had two children and outgrew our beloved historic home.  Next chapter, we wanted to be in the country and our two year search for an old farmhouse {with a party barn} began with no luck.  A new road traveled, we took a leap of faith and our building adventure began!  We purchased 6 acres in a 100 year old forest reserve {actually the first lot we looked at when our original 2 year search began, so I do believe it was meant to be!} and designed and general contracted our home on our own squeezing every bit of unique charm and vintage character in as we could.  This is where my passion for mixing old with new began and This New Old House was born!

I am so excited to work with you and help your dream visions become a reality.  There is nothing more rewarding for me than having the pieces of a project come to life for my clients.
