Spring Mini-Kitchen Sink Makeover

We are feeling all the spring vibes at This New Old House and we are ready for a little spring mini make-over at a spot in your kitchen where I guarantee you spend a lot of your time…the kitchen sink! Why not make it a space that brings you joy! Right!?!! Here are some easy things you can do to make this space aesthetic and a spot you will maybe even have fun doing the dishes!

#1 – First, let’s bring a little springtime vibe to this space. I went out to our greenhouse Harvey’s Greenhouse and got some herbs. You can use these now for cooking and plant in your garden soon. I like to incorporate old vintage items into my décor and lots of layers. So, we’ll use one of the cake stands in my vintage cake stand collection, place one of my husband’s handcrafted charcuterie boards on top for a beautiful warm wooden texture and pattern. I DIYed the pots with jute twine and lace ribbon. And, also placed these in vintage small dishes to hold the water.

#2 – Next, let’s talk about the dish soap bottles that you need but are really not attractive! We are going to make them adorable with amber colored pump bottles and stickers. You won’t see the color of your dish soap through the amber bottles to throw off the neutral color theme of this area with the neon green or blue soap. And, to finish it off, we’ll add a wooden dough bowl under our dish holders. An easy transformation that makes such a big difference. Right?!!

#3 – To freshen up the space for spring, we are going to add a Swedish dishtowel from Doe a Deer in Stuart in an adorable lemon and orange pattern. The owner Regan hand draws all of her dishtowel designs there.  We’ll layer it over a striped black and white dishtowel. Love those layers!

#4 – In the window sills to add something that makes me smile, we are going to put my honey pot collection. We are beekeepers with 4 hives and it is something we love doing and the honey is amazing. The honey pot collection is special and fun. You can add a little pop of something to your space that makes you smile or start a new collection that you can be on the hunt for on your adventures to keep adding to.

#5 – Because you can have some pampering while you are doing the dishes, we are going to add a little room spray from Ada Acres, a local little shop in the countryside by Linden. This scent is called spring burst. I wish you guys could smell this. It is an energizing blend of citrus and herbal greens of mint and lavender with a small pop of vanilla. YUM!

What do you guys think?! Is this a spot you would enjoy? And, so easy to make small changes to your spaces to bring more aesthetic and joy! You can shop items for your own mini kitchen sink make-over in the March Favorite Things Box here.
